This is an industrial rope (whose fibers have been soaked in products from the petroleum industry, also known as Jute Batching Oil, to protect the machines that handle these fibers), and the petroleum smell can sometimes be unpleasant. Cases of allergic reactions are occasionally reported. That said, the "Ogawa" ropes we process undergo a heat treatment that removes a large portion of the Jute Batching Oil present in the rope.

Ultimately, Ogawa is a very good rope for people who care about their equipment and don't have an overly dynamic style.
